Well, sorry folks, it has been ages since I updated the ole blog! It's a new year that has already been full of changes. Some not so good, and others exciting.My friends Liz and Gary are expecting their first baby this month and I took the opportunity to take some belly shots. I think Gary was more excited about it than Liz, but she was such a good sport, and an excellent model! I was apparently in a fight with the remote flashes that night so I didn't walk away with as many keepers as
I wanted, but still had a few
that I really like. And I would like
to share them with all of you!

First off, let me apologize for neglecting the blog. I have been a bit busy lately. I hope that the two of you who read this (yes, I realize that "2" is being generous...) enjoy this, because I am pretty excited about the projects.
Recently I shot some family photos for an old high school friend. Liz has such a beautiful family, and they were so much fun to work with. As a result of that shoot, I landed another gig with Liz's nephew, Adrian, who is a high school senior. Those senior portraits are really a big deal (if you can remember that far back...), and I feel really privileged to have been asked to be a part of it. He was so photogenic, and so much fun to work with.
These are some of my favorites from both shoots.

My family can be kind of camera shy. I either have to be very sneaky, or fight flailing arms and hands in front of the lens. Lucky for me I am both sneaky and quick to defend my shot. Lucky for me again that my family is pretty photogenic.

A Friday Evening at the Verdict

Another lovely evening at the Verdict. They have tons of patio seating which is perfect for days like today. And a happy hour menu to go along with it.
Downtown Oregon City was buzzing tonight with the first installment of their annual block party/concert series. The guys from the Verdict were not only supporters of the event, but had a convenient tent set up in the beer/wine garden... ready and waiting to quench your thirst. A full staff waited just around the corner to serve up tasty treats when the music stopped. Cheers to the Verdict for being so new and already so involved and supportive of their community. Good stuff I tell you, good stuff.

Wedding crafts

It's that time of year. Weddings, weddings, weddings. As a follow up to my previous post, and because, well, it's all I am hearing about right now... I thought I would post up some photos of one of my (many) other hobbies. Wedding crafts. Specifically, veil making. In the past three years I have crafted 7 veils, the necklaces for bridesmaids in 2 weddings, color sashes to ties the bridesmaids to the theme of the event on 3 occasions, and cut up and recreated a brides dream dress for her real prince charming (the first turned out to be a toad). I am sure there are other mighty wedding craft feats (flower arranging!), but you know how the wedding craziness goes... the event is fast and everything blurs together in your memory. Fortunately I have these pictures to show for myself. The picture directly to the left (of the bride with the beer) includes both veil and recreated wedding dress. (You should have seen it before... the bride was in a "nature" phase when she bought it years before. Think "wizard" sleeves...) The pictures above are meant to show the veils, sashes, and jewelry. (And my beautiful bride friends :)

Matt and Allison

Matt and Allison are getting married next year. Allison is one of the most stylish and creative people I know... and I have been charged with creating her wedding veil. I am pretty excited about this project given Allison' s vision for her wedding. Stay tuned for more on this project. In the meantime, let me introduce you to Allison and Matt....

I seem to have luck photographing animals. And babies. I'm not quite sure what it is about them, or me, that makes the images I capture so dynamic, but whatever it is, it works. It's also fun and silly and exciting.

The flowers around town are in full bloom. So my allergies tell me. But they are really pretty to look at. Considering we only get a couple month out of the year to enjoy the heat and the color, I think I can put up with the sneezing, stuffy nose and slight, constant headache...

i have been drinking a lot of red wine lately. not that this is anything new. sometimes i feel a little bit more creative when red wine is involved. and its much more fun to photograph than beer. (don't worry beer... i still love you too...)
